As we begin a new year
August 2026 | Emily Lyons, Director of Administration
Thank you for joining us at Anothen this year! We are so grateful to partner with your family as we begin another year of learning, growth, and discovery.
A new year brings fresh opportunities, new milestones, and countless moments that will shape your child's future. As parents, it's easy to get caught up in the daily demands—especially as everyone settles into new routines. Between busy schedules, endless to-do lists, and the challenges that come with raising growing children, the days can feel full.
But as we step into this year, it's worth pausing to remember something important:
Every day is creating a memory.
One day, your child will look back on these years and remember...
Whether they felt seen and valued when they walked into a room.
If home and school felt like places of comfort, safety, and belonging.
Whether their thoughts, feelings, and dreams were heard—even when their voice was small.
At Anothen, we pray that we can partner with you in encouraging, supporting, and celebrating these amazing students as they grow into all God has created them to be.
The greatest gift we can give our children isn't a perfect childhood—it's knowing they are loved, valued, and supported by the people who care for them most.
As we begin this year together, together, let's be intentional about creating the memories, relationships, and moments that will stay with our children for a lifetime.
After all, you are not just raising children—you are helping shape the stories they'll carry with them forever. Let's make this year count.
welcome back to AOA!
Angie Williams, Director of Education
I am the Director of Education and I have the honor of coordinating chapel. It is a joy and privilege to help guide the spiritual and educational vision of Anothen Outdoor Academy. My heart is to ensure that every lesson, every adventure, and every chapel experience points our students back to the goodness and faithfulness of God. I look forward to partnering with our amazing staff and with each of you as we nurture children growing in mind, body, and Christ.
We are thrilled to welcome both our returning and new families to another exciting year at Anothen Outdoor Academy! There is something special about the beginning of a new school year: a fresh opportunity to grow in knowledge, build meaningful friendships, explore God's incredible creation, and most importantly, grow in our relationship with Christ.
This year in chapel, our school-wide focus will once again be the Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23. Each month we will spend intentional time learning about one fruit through Bible stories, worship, Scripture memory, hands-on activities, and practical application. While academic knowledge is important, our greatest desire is to partner with families in helping children develop hearts that reflect the character of Christ.
The Fruit of the Spirit isn't simply a list of good behaviors. These qualities—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—are the evidence of God's work within us as we walk with Him. Throughout the year, our teachers will reinforce these biblical truths in the classroom, outdoors, and during everyday interactions, helping students understand how to live out their faith in real and meaningful ways.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children. We are praying that this school year will be filled with wonder, discovery, lasting friendships, and experiences that lead us to countless opportunities to see God's hand at work in and through our students.
We can't wait to see all that God has planned to grow in the hearts of our students and staff for this year!
