Rooted in Faith: Shining His Light Through Kindness
During chapel this month, we will explore what it means to be salt and light in the world, as Jesus teaches us in Matthew 5:13–16. Just as salt brings out flavor and light brightens the darkness, God calls us to make a difference in the lives of those around us. Through our words, attitudes, and actions, we have opportunities each day to reflect His love and help others experience His goodness.
As we continue growing in the Fruit of the Spirit, our focus turns to kindness (Galatians 5:22–23). Kindness is more than simply being polite; it is love put into action. Whether inviting a friend to join in, offering help without being asked, or responding with gentle words, even the smallest acts can make a lasting impact. Our staff would love to catch your child being kind as we encourage students to recognize opportunities to let Jesus' light shine through them!
We are also excited to bring a special addition to our Annual Family Picnic this year! Families will be invited to join our students and staff for a short, family-style chapel as we come together in praise and worship and lean into God's Word. What a wonderful opportunity to experience a little piece of the faith-filled moments we share at Anothen and celebrate growing together in Christ!
Continuing Conversations at Home
Reflect: What does it mean to be a light for Jesus? How did you let your light shine today?
Discover: Can you remember a time someone showed you kindness? How did it make you feel?
Grow: What is one way our family can show God's love through kindness this week?
Family Challenge: Look for opportunities to "catch" one another being kind this week! Celebrate those moments together and talk about how even small acts of kindness can reflect God's great love.
"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." — Matthew 5:16 (NIV) Experience, Discover, and Grow in patience.
